What is fractional marketing and creative | Transcript

Host: “Employment rights are on a lot of people’s minds. What does it mean to bring a high level of skills and expertise to a company on a part-time basis? You could be working on a project or for 10 hours a week, meaning only a fraction of your time is spent at that organization. This allows you to work fewer hours and enables companies to pay for only the specific skills they need. With that kind of job, could I have three or four jobs at once if I’m one of these fractional workers?”

Stacey: “Absolutely, and that’s one of the biggest reasons people choose this path. They might be bored and want a new challenge, so they bring their skills and experience to several different companies simultaneously.”

Host: “What about benefits? If you’re not working 40 hours, you’re typically not eligible for full-time benefits. What do you do in that situation?”

Stacey: “There are options. You can still get insured through the state or through another means. Companies like True Talent Group offer benefits if you work an average of 30 hours a week, even for different clients. This includes medical, dental, 401K, etc. So, you can still receive benefits while working for several companies, as long as you average 30 hours a week.”

Host: “What kinds of jobs like this are available?”

Stacey: “There are many opportunities. For example, a company might not need a full-time director of marketing but still requires that level of expertise. At True Talent Group, we use fractional marketing, IT, CFO services, and HR services. Typically, these roles would cost over a million in payroll and benefits, but we get them for a fraction of the cost, allowing us to move further, faster.”

Host: “Do you think the younger generation will gravitate towards this, or is it more appealing to the older workforce?”

Stacey: “The pandemic has shifted perspectives. It prompted people to reassess what they want in life—more time with family, travel, or a different work-life balance. This trend is appealing to an older or more seasoned generation who have lived through traditional work setups and now seek flexibility and autonomy. It’s about making decisions that align with their desired lifestyle.”

Host: “So, it’s about crafting a life that you really want, right?”

Stacey: “Absolutely, and that’s a big draw for fractional work. We even have team members who travel and work from different locations. For instance, one of our team members lives in Mexico for six months a year. Fractional jobs have increased by 57% since 2020, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.”

Host: “You mentioned benefits for employees. What about employers?”

Stacey: “Employers save a lot of money and don’t need to manage a full-time employee on their payroll. They can hire specialists for specific expertise rather than generalists. This flexibility allows companies to bring in the talent they need when they need it, helping them progress faster.”

Host: “That’s very insightful. Stacey, thank you so much for joining us this morning.”
